The short version
- No sign-up is needed. The app gives you an anonymous account automatically.
- Your habits and check-offs are backed up to our server so they survive a lost phone. Adding an email is optional.
- No ads, no analytics, no third-party trackers. Nothing is sold or shared.
- Daily Ring Plus is an optional purchase made through Apple or Google. We never see your card or payment details.
- You can delete your account and all its data at any time, in the app: Habits → Account → Delete account.
Who we are
Daily Ring (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is developed and published by an independent developer. Questions about this policy go through our contact form.
What we collect
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| An anonymous account ID (a random identifier) | The first time the app goes online | To keep your backup separate from everyone else’s |
| Your habits: names, chosen icons and colours, daily targets and units, the days of the week or times a week they repeat, and their order | When you add or change a habit | To back them up and sync them between your devices |
| Your check-offs: how many times each habit was done on each day | When you log a habit | To back up your history and streaks |
| Your current challenge (its length and start date) | When you start a challenge | To back it up with the rest of your progress |
| Your breaks: the first and last day of each one | When you take a break with Vacation mode | So the days off are excused on every device and your streaks hold |
| Your Daily Ring Plus status: which plan you have, whether it is a free trial, and when it renews or ends | Only if you buy Daily Ring Plus | So Plus works on each of your devices, including the web app |
| Email address and password | Only if you choose to add them in the Account screen | So you can sign in on another device. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash. |
Habit names are whatever you type. Please do not put sensitive information in them; the app treats them as ordinary text.
What stays on your device
Reminder settings, reminder times, your appearance and language choices, and whether you have finished the introduction never leave your device. Reminders are scheduled on your device; we do not use push notifications. The Home Screen widget and the Apple Watch app get their data directly from the app on your phone, not from our server; the watch apps also get your choice of reward sounds, so a tap sounds the same on your wrist. The Wear OS app does too, through Google Play services on your phone and watch. When the watch is not connected to the phone over Bluetooth, Play services may carry that data (your habits, the last 14 days of check-offs and your choice of sounds) through Google’s servers, which send it only between your own devices.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, contacts, location, photos, health data, advertising identifiers or device identifiers. There are no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising tools in the app, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
If you contact us
The contact form on this website asks for your email address and your message, and optionally your name and your device and app version. When you press Send, those details are passed to our email provider and delivered to our inbox as an email, so that we can reply to you. The form does not save them to a database, and this website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. If you choose a light or dark theme here, that choice is saved in your browser so the next page opens the same way; it is never sent to us, and choosing Automatic removes it.
We keep the email for as long as we need it to deal with your message, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
How we use it
Only to provide the app’s backup and sync, and to answer you when you contact us. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or marketing, and we do not train any models on it. We may email you only about your account, for example to confirm an email address you added or to send a code that resets your password, or in reply to a message you sent.
Who processes it
Backups are stored with Supabase, which hosts our database and sign-in service in the United States. Supabase processes the data only on our behalf. Like most online services it keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and request time) to run and secure the service. Your data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and the database only lets each account read and write its own rows.
Emails about your account, such as a password reset code, and messages from the contact form, which pass through a Supabase function, are sent by our email provider, Resend, in the United States. Resend processes them only to deliver the email and keeps limited delivery records for a short time.
If you buy Daily Ring Plus, you pay Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), under their own privacy policies; we never see your card or payment details. On Android, the Google Play billing library the app uses to check for purchases also sends Google technical diagnostics about its connection to Google Play, even if you never buy anything; Google handles them under its own privacy policy. We use RevenueCat, in the United States, to check purchases with the store and to know which account has Plus. RevenueCat receives your anonymous account ID and the store’s record of your purchases, with your store’s country and currency. It does not receive your email, your habits or any device or advertising identifier, and it processes this only on our behalf.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your account and all its habits, check-offs, challenge and breaks are deleted from our server immediately and permanently, and removed from your device. That includes the copy of your Daily Ring Plus status. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: you cancel it with Apple or Google. RevenueCat keeps the record of your purchases, so you can restore them later; ask us if you want it deleted too.
If you remove the app without deleting your account first, your data stays on our server. An anonymous account holds no email or anything else that identifies you, so we cannot match it to you afterwards. We periodically delete anonymous accounts that have not been used for 30 days, along with all their data. If you are on a break, the 30 days count from the day it ends.
Your choices and rights
- Delete: delete your account and data at any time in the app, or follow the steps on our account deletion page.
- Access or correct: everything we store is visible and editable in the app. You can also ask us for a copy of your data.
- Export: take a copy of every check-off at any time with Habits → Export data. The CSV file is made on your device and is shared only where you choose; it is never sent to us.
- Stay offline: the app works without a network connection; nothing is sent until you are online.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you may have further rights, such as to object to processing or to complain to your local data protection authority. We process your data because it is needed to provide the service you asked for. To exercise any right, use our contact form; we reply within 30 days.
Children
Daily Ring is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
